Verdict: Remember "Joker"? Now imagine if it was written by a 9 year old and starred someone who turned up high to set every single day. You get "The Fanatic", a film starring John Travolta as a mentally challenged fan turned stalker. And yes, it's absolutely amazing.
The film made a mere $3,153 at the box office, and that's quite frankly one of the biggest tragedies in Cinema history. Because this is a film I'll most definitely be revisiting more than once, preferably with a bunch of drunk friends. The fact that Travolta actually started a For Your Consideration campaign hoping that this masterpiece would get some kind of recognition during award season makes it a hundred times more hilarious. And you know what, I don't think that the campaign will go to waste because I have a strong feeling that the film is going to clean up at the Razzies. I really want to believe that filmmaker Fred Durst knew what kind of movie he had between his hands, and intentionally sabotaged it in order to create a cult classic that belongs with the likes of "The Room" or "Birdemic", and if he did, he most certainly succeeded in doing so because I haven't laughed at a movie that much in such a long time. From hilarious performances, to golden lines of dialogue and a bunch of weirdly inserted scenes, "The Fanatic" truly has it all. And I say this with all honesty, I had an absolute blast with it and cannot recommend it enough if you're into this type of movies. Just know what you're walking into, get some beer, invite some friends over, order some pizza, and enjoy this unique ride.

FINAL GRADE: 3/10
