Verdict: I'm sorry but no, "Infinity War" is not the most ambitious crossover event in history. Nor is that weird Star Wars/Muppets crossover (although it's a close second). That recognition has to go to "WrestleMania Mystery", which sees the Mystery Inc. gang team up with icons in the wrestling world such as John Cena, Triple H, Kane, AJ Lee, Sin Cara, and Vinnie Mac (!) to take down a mysterious ghostly bear who will stop at nothing to ruin WrestleMania for everyone.
A big fan of both the WWE and Scooby-Doo while growing up, this straight-to-DVD feature had me laughing and cheering on more than one occasion. From goofy story and characters to cheesy, self-aware jokes, it's got everything you could ever wish for from a crossover featuring these two huge franchises.
But while I certainly did have a lot of fun watching it, I have to acknowledge the fact that I wasn't entirely on board with all the decisions made. I wasn't a big fan of the main villain terrorizing the gang and their newly-made friends, and some scenes were just plain silly and awkward. Fred, Daphne, and Velma also don't really contribute much to the story and their presence felt more like an obligation, which is a shame since I do enjoy their chemistry with Shaggy (oh almighty one) and Scooby.
"WrestleMania" was still a blast to experience and I certainly consider the time dedicated to it well-spent. I definitely recommend it to fans of the two franchises because let's face it, the mere idea of Cena participating in one of the gang's adventures is enough to get any enthusiast excited.
