Verdict: Seriously though, why are movies like these still being made?
Directed by Lars Klevberg, "Polaroid" is the story of a teenager who stumbles upon a vintage camera that kills anyone who has their picture taken with it.
If the story seems dumb and not in the least scary to you, you're absolutely correct. Similarly to "Slender Man" or "Rings", it's yet another shallow film that only relies on a couple of loud, cheap jump scares to call itself a horror movie. No effort was put into making any of the characters feel real or even likable, which makes it impossible for me to care even a little about their ultimate fates. It's an 88-minute flick that feels much, much longer due to its incredibly boring narrative, and I wasn't surprised to discover afterward that it was actually based on a 15-minute short of the same name and directed by the same person, a format that better fits the film's concept.
I don't have much else to say about "Polaroid" except for the fact that it worries me that its director's next project will be the "Child's Play" remake, coming out next week.

FINAL GRADE: 2/10
