Verdict: "Mom and Dad" is exactly what you'd expect from a movie directed by the maker of films such as "Crank" or "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance", and starring the one and only Nicolas Cage. And this is why I loved it. Cage and Selma Blair play the parents of Carly (Anne Winters) and Josh (Zackary Arthur), who find themselves in the middle of a mass hysteria that sees parents everywhere turning against and eventually murdering their children for no apparent reason. From a technical point of view, the movie is a complete disaster crowned with over the top performances, hilariously bad editing, a soundtrack that's all over the place, and a script that is on the level of classics like "The Room" or "Birdemic". But much like his previous projects, Brian Taylor was very self-aware of the quality of his film and used that awareness to his advantage, turning what on paper was supposed to be a horror film into a comedy that falls in the category of "movies that are so bad, they're good". My only complaint about the film is that there was not enough Nic Cage in its first half. However, he makes the wait well worth it in its second half by delivering one of his most extravagant performance in recent years. In conclusion, if you watch "Mom and Dad" expecting it to be a horror/thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seat for an hour and a half, you'll be massively disappointed. But if you're looking for a very self-aware comedy that happens to star Nicolas Cage in a role he was born to play, then you're in for a treat.

Final Grade: 7/10
